6 Quick Wellness Habits to incorporate into your Daily Routine

I’ve had some friends recently ask me to suggest a quick daily wellness routine. Below I’ve listed out 6 quick wellness habits that I try to incorporate into my day to day even when things get hectic.

Quick meditation followed by a Sun Salutation:

When I wake up in the morning I like to take time before I do anything for a 15-30 minute meditation to awaken and prepare my mind for the day. I then give my body a good stretch and greet the day with a Sun Salutation. This practice helps improve blood circulation, flexibility, tones up the muscles, and awakens your prana within (body’s life force). This is one of my favorite ways to start the day because it’s quick and super energizing!

Magnesium in the morning:
I take 3mL of magnesium in the morning in my juice or food. Magnesium is required for cellular energy production and participates in over 300 biochemical pathways in the body. It’s been found to improve sleep and stress and to have a calming effect. I like taking it for hormonal balance and for overall skin appearance.

Diffuser with an essential oil blend of your choice:

I started using a diffuser in my office at work last year to help manage stress. Aromatherapy is a great way to find balance reducing anxiety and stress. I like using lavender before bed, frankincense, ylang-ylang, or bergamot for stress relievers.

Exercise daily

I’ve noticed that as soon as I turned 30, the only way for me to stay in shape is to exercise daily! One of my favorite ways to exercise is either swimming, doing yoga, or one of Kayla Itsines Bikini Body workouts. I do any variety of these workouts in just 30 minutes and I try to do some type of exercise at least everyday. I love this mix of exercises because I can fit them into my schedule easily and I have the luxury of being outside and enjoying nature at the same time.

Clear negative energy

palo santo

If you’re feeling some off putting energy or vibes, whip out the palo santo or sage and start smudging and burning! Palo Santo is a wild tree found in South America, used by many Shamans for its medicinal and spiritual benefits and believed to heal and promote your well-being & cleansing of “mala energía or bad energy.  Smudging with sage can have similar effects. This 2,000-year-old Indigenous practice was used to cleanse the energetic field of a person. It’s an alchemical ritual that changes and shifts our auras cleansing the space around us.

Reading before bed

This past year for lent I took on not looking at any technology an hour before bed. I now try to continue this habit and I use that time to read before bed. It helps calm my mind and distracts me from all of the tasks, to-dos, work, and deadlines I have running around in my mind.  Right now I’m reading 30 Things to do When you Turn 30 with contributions from 13 authors on finding your passion, going outside of your comfort zone, unplug and tune in, and turning your spirit inside out.

I encourage you to try incorporating any of these quick and easy wellness habits in your life to help concentrate better, improve your mood and stress levels, and to promote overall well being and happiness. What are some of your favorite ways to calm the mind and reduce stress?
